NEW VAN TAX LAW 6th APRIL 2007
ARE YOU OPTING OUT OR IN?Are you aware that with effect from 6th April 2007 the HM Revenue & Customs have changed the laws on company van tax?
Do you or your staff use company vans?
What does this mean to me and my employees?
If your employees are deemed to use vehicles privately their benefit in kind will increase by a staggering 600% to £3000 per annum plus an additional £500 if you provide the fuel. This will also have a knock on effect to the employers NI contributions increasing them to around £384 per vehicle.
To use our industry leading vehicle tracking is simple. We fit each of your vehicles with a GPS unit. This unit then relays positional, speed and other data back to RAM’s hosted servers every few seconds using GPRS technology on the O2 mobile phone network. This data is then presented to you in real-time using easy to understand maps and reports accessible from any computer with an internet connection and web browser.
Etta Plumbing and Heating Services Limited
“Private mileage has always been a grey area in taxation, but the recent change in the way the tax is calculated will see many getting unfairly slapped with a £3,000 tax demand. Our engineers that don’t use the vehicles for private use are protected, as reports can be submitted to the Inland Revenue as proof.”
Classic Lifts (Scotland) Limited
We provide an ‘op-in’ and ‘opt-out’ scheme for our van drivers who do or don’t wish to use the vehicles for private mileage. Those that opt-out can submit the tracking details to the Inland Revenue and avoid the hefty tax liabilities.
