RAM Save Client £45k on Fuel with Recession Beating System

Leeds based RAM Tracking has helped painting and decorating firm Dave Luck Limited to slash its monthly fuel bills by nearly 60%, following the installation of the company’s vehicle tracking system.

Denise Luck, director at Dave Luck Ltd, said: “We saw the system from RAM and instantly liked what it could do. The ability to track in real-time is great, but the system also shows us at a glance if anyone is speeding and where our tradesmen are. I never expected the results we achieved. It was nothing less than amazing!”

The company evaluated the RAM system after the first month and found that the fuel bill had reduced from £6000 to £2200 – meaning a massive £45,600 would be saved over the course of the year! In times of recession this is exactly the type of cost saving exercise that can make a huge difference to any business.

The directors of the company knew that its fleet of 21 vehicles were being used for private mileage, but had no way of proving this, until they installed the RAM system and private use virtually stopped overnight.

But this isn’t the only benefit the system has brought to the company. It has helped to protect their employees from allegations of poor timekeeping from clients, has been beneficial in directing drivers to site, and has increased productivity drastically. “A phenomenal product and a great business decision,” said Luck. “I actually feel that I’m in direct control of all our resources for the first time.”

RAM Tracking was established in 2004 with a clear objective to supply the best, cost-effective, user-friendly vehicle tracking solution for their market, with an emphasis on providing exceptional customer support, to ensure their customers get the most out of the system from day one. With 2000 clients, 32 employees, and over 12,000 devices installed, they are confident they are achieving their aim.

And, with fuel savings like Dave Luck has achieved, it’s no wonder RAM has a 100% contract renewal rate!

100% of AMCO Commercial Vehicles to be Fitted with RAM Systems

Yorkshire based Amalgamated Construction (AMCO) has implemented a policy regarding the 100% use of vehicle tracking systems, following successful results from 150 units already installed by Leeds based RAM Tracking.

The transport manager for AMCO commented: “We first had the RAM telematics system installed in some of our vehicles in 2006, but this quickly increased due to the benefits we received, and we now have 150 vehicles with the units in them. This currently equates to 98% of our commercial fleet, but we have every intention of this becoming 100% very soon!

When asked why they chose RAM’s system, the transport manager said it was as much to do with the people as the system itself. “Following recommendation from our IT department – who had tested the system thoroughly to make sure it integrated seamlessly with our existing operating procedures – Chris McClellan and Martin Davies (directors of RAM) then presented it to AMCO. They were very pro-active in ensuring that we had all the information that we needed to make a decision, as well as demonstrating its ease of use and efficiency, and how it had benefitted their other clients.

RAM continues to be our supplier of choice for our telematics needs because not only does the system deliver, but we receive fantastic service with ongoing support and free development updates too.”

Chris is equally delighted with the results. “AMCO is a major player in the industry and is constantly approached by other vehicle tracking companies. The fact that they remain with us is a testament to both our system and our high levels of service.”

Although there was initial resistance from some AMCO employees, this was quickly dispelled when the benefits were explained. As a result the company is now able to track where and how fast their drivers are going; whether they’re using the most cost-effective route; locate vehicles and divert crews to urgent jobs quickly and efficiently; as well as using the system as proof/evidence to refute speeding or accident allegations.

Amagamated Construction (AMCO) provides multi-disciplinary construction and engineering services throughout the UK. Originally established in 1970, and operating from its head office in Barnsley and regional offices in Warrington, Manchester, Swansea and Alloa, AMCO provides a wide range of design, project management, construction and engineering services to the Rail, Energy, Engineering and Materials Handling markets.

As a company that deals with government departments to recycle IT equipment and destroy sensitive data, it was imperative that Irvine based CCL (North) Ltd could guarantee the security of this equipment in transit.

Step forward RAM Tracking.

Said Bruce: “When I was considering which system to have installed in the five vehicles in our fleet, the guys from RAM provided me with all the information I needed to make my decision easy. They were brilliant and so is their tracking system!”

“As well as reassuring my clients that their data is secure during transportation, an added benefit of the system has been that I’ve managed to save my company nearly £24k over a year in reduced fuel costs, as employees now restrict the amount of private mileage they do, which is fantastic!”

In fact Bruce has been so impressed with the system he has even driven to one of his own clients to demonstrate it to them, and recommend that they use RAM for their tracking needs too!
