SLK Interiors wanted to add another tier of service to its already impressive track record of satisfied customers. The addition of a tracking system gives SLK the clarity of its operations on a real-time basis.
"Our customer base is mostly made up of retailers," said Steve Kittrick, Managing Director of SLK Interiors Limited. Having us decorate their shop or superstore can mean in some cases a certain amount of down- time for them, which is why we need to be as punctual as possible. SLK operates a fleet of 5 Renault Traffic vans, covering contracts in the UK and abroad. Employee wages are paid on a two-tier system. The first rate is paid for travelling and the second rate when they arrive on site and begin work.
"We've found that there is now less travel time and more work time," laughs Kittrick. "At least we can now back up these times with the new tracking system. I'd say we've seen an extra 20% in productivity and saved a small fortune on the travel and work rates - by at least 10% extra in profits.
The cost of the system is recovered within the first 2 hours of work! "Having direct control over the vans at any point in time has given us the opportunity to react immediately to a potential problem and maximise the efficiency of the fleet."
The tracking system provides SLK Interiors with a valuable anti-theft device, which fortunately hasn't had to be used yet. The insurers fully recognise the benefit of the Remote Asset Management system and immediately discounted the SLK policy by 5%.
"We may seem like a small company on the outside, but our operation is truly working on a huge scale with this tracking system at the core. The control and flexibility gives us a distinct advantage over all of our competitors," concluded Kittrick.
